Old Dusty Road

unknownroad15.jpeg

Old Dusty Road.
What’s down this road?
It’s a dirt road.
Old Dirty road, winding through the country side.
Pretty shaft of light, falling through the trees.
Sweet scented breeze...
Wafting along this country lane;
It’s rather narrow, not very wide.
It’s a lonely road, off the main
Highway...just where does it lead?

It may travel long or it could be a dead end.
What lies around the bend?
Where ever it goes one may never know,
Unless you chance along and decide to take a stroll;
A shaft of light shines through the trees...the sun
Will feel warm upon the skin as you stroll.
Maybe it goes to a farm house,
Maybe it comes away from one,
But it’s a place animals have been drawn close by
And some have dared to walk across it...
A family of deer, or maybe a hopping rabbit,
Raccoon or possum or skunk...
It’s a crossing rarely visited by car or truck.

It’s a dirt lane, a simple country lane,
an integral part of the country side...
Old Dirty road, winding through the country side.
It may travel long or it could be a dead end,
Where ever it goes, one may never know...
Come walk this road...take some time
away from the busy life;
Come walk along this dirt packed road, in the summertime.
You’ll go home, feeling you’ve been somewhere, worthwhile.
You won’t regret it; walk it, just a few yards...or a mile.
You’ll recall your time spent here, with a smile.
